Thursday, 25 June 2015

A court again placed on Wednesday Bakhtiar Alam Rony, son of Awami League (AL) MP Pinu Khan, on a four-day remand in a case filed for reportedly shooting two people to death with his firearm in the city's New Eskaton area, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate (DMM) M Mahbubur Rahman passed the order after Rony was produced before the court.
The court also rejected the bail petition filed by Rony's lawyer Kazi Najibullah Hiru.
Earlier, the court fixed Wednesday on hearing the petition for a seven-day remand, submitted by investigation officer of the case sub-inspector (SI) of Detective Branch (DB) Dipak Kumar Das on June 21.
On April 13, Rony, said to be a drug addict, allegedly opened fire on people indiscriminately near Janakantha Bhaban in New Eskaton area from his car, leaving two people--rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim and Janakantha's auto-rickshaw driver Yakub--injured with bullets.
Hakim succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on April 15 while Yakub died at the hospital on April 23.
On April 15, a case was filed with Ramna thana against unidentified people in this connection.
On June 1, law enforces arrested Rony from his Dhanmondi residence in connection with the firing.
