TK 2.0B GRAFT CASE

Court imposes travel ban on Monipur school ex-principal

FE REPORT | Thursday, 12 March 2026

A Dhaka court on Wednesday imposed travel ban on the former principal of Monipur High School and College and his wife amid an ongoing probe into alleged embezzlement of nearly Tk 2.0 billion from development projects.
The decission came after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sought to restrict Md Forhad Hossain, former principal of the institution, and his wife Anjuman Ara Khatun from leaving the country. The restriction was sought to the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court, which, later on the day, issued the restriction.
The ACC said it is investigating allegations that Mr Hossain, along with office assistant Md. Humayun Kabir and others, misappropriated about Tk 2.0 billion from development projects of the institution.
The allegations also include accumulation of illegal wealth and tax evasion.
According to the investigation agency, there is credible information that Mr Hossain and his wife may attempt to flee abroad, which could hamper the ongoing inquiry.
To ensure a proper investigation, the ACC sought the court's permission to impose a travel restriction on the couple.
