A Dhaka court Thursday issued an arrest warrant against Westmont Bangladesh Limited chairman Kazi Tajul Islam Faruk in an embezzlement case, reports bdnews24.com.
Faruk had sued the then Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina, now Prime Minister, for alleged extortion in the Baghabari barge-mounted power plant during the 2007-2008 military-installed caretaker government.
Magistrate Konika Biswas of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court issued the order after hearing the case filed earlier in the day by Ali Akkas Nurani, local advertiser and consultant of Westmont Offshore Bangladesh.
