Court summon against Tarique a deep-rooted conspiracy : BNP

Tuesday, 18 November 2014

Denouncing a court summon against its senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman in a defamatory case, BNP on Monday claimed the move is a deep-rooted conspiracy by the government against him, reports UNB.
In a statement, BNP spokesman Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “Issuing the court summon after filing a case against him (Tarique) is a deep-rooted conspiracy by this illegal government. The conspiratorial case and the subsequent summon also reflected the all-pervasive vengeance of the regime. We strongly condemn and protest it.”
Fakhrul alleged the government being envious of Tarique’s immense popularity filed the case to politically harass and repress him. “With this, the government once again exposed its blind vengeful character.”
He said the country’s current overall situation, and the law and order also manifest that Bangladesh is now in deep trouble with misrule.  “The prospect of having justice by people has diminished as this regime can’t tolerate true and fair statements. They feel the pinch if anyone comes up with facts,” he added.
Fakhrul demanded the government immediately withdraw the ‘false’ case and the court summon against Tarique Rahman.
Meanwhile, Calling the government’s ‘repressive measures’ as mere perversion, BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Monday this ‘second Baksal government’ will not last long like that of the 1975 one.
“The continued repressive acts of the government to destroy the opposition demonstrate that suppressing BNP leaders and activists turned into its perverted act. Resorting to destructive violent acts became a routine affair for the current regime to quench its unfulfilled thirst for blood,” he said.
Rizvi further said: “The first 1975 Baksal regime could not hang onto power for a long time. This colourless second Baksal regime won’t last long either.”
The BNP leader made the remarks while addressing a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office.
About the prime minister’s adviser HT Imam’s remarks on the January-5 polls and providing Chhatra League activists with BCS jobs, the BNP leader said the adviser has divulged the government plot.
