Wednesday, 19 March 2008

A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate's court has turned down the plea for allowing the accused not to appear in court in person in a case filed relating to declaring an export-oriented company 'loan defaulter,' which claimed to have taken no loan, said a press release.
Amzad Hossain, chairman of the jute and jute goods exporting company Sharp Export International (Pvt) Ltd, filed the case as a private commercial bank declared the company loan defaulter in 1999.
Four of the five accused appeared in the court recently and sought the permission not to appear in court in person. But the court turned down the plea.
