Court verdict today

SYLHET, Dec 22 (UNB): The verdict in the case of grenade attack on former British High Commissioner (HC) to Bangladesh Anwar Choudhyry will be delivered today (Tuesday).
Judge of divisional speedy trial tribunal Shamim Mohammad Afzal fixed the date of verdict Sunday after completing hearing in the case.
Three people were killed and over 50 people, including Anwar Choudhury, injured as miscreants hurled grenade on the ex-British High Commissioner when he went to visit the mazar of Hazrat Shah Jalal ® on May 21, 2004.
Then Deputy Commissioner Abul Hossain and local Bar Association president Abdul Hye Khan were among the injured.
Two separate cases were filed with Kotwali thana in this connection.
Harkatul Jihad leader Mufti Abdul Hannan in a statement before a CMM court in Dhaka on November 19, 2006 confessed to supplying grenades for launching the attack.
CID ASP Munshi Atiqur Rahman submitted two separate charge sheets to a Magistrate court here on June 9 last year accusing five persons.
The cases were later transferred to the divisional speedy trial tribunal for quick disposal.
All the five accused-Harkatul Jihad leader Mufti Abdul Hannan, his younger brother Mohibullah alias Ovi, Sharif Shahedul Islam Bipul, Delwar Hossain Ripon and Harkatul Jihad second-in-command Moin Uddin alias Abu Jandal-are now in custody.
