Courts sends five including four govt officials to jail for embezzlement

COX'S BAZAR, Feb 11 (UNB): A court here sent on Monday five people to jail including four government officials in an embezzlement case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Cox's Bazar Senior Special Judge Court Justice Khandakar Hasan Mahmud Firoz passed the order denying them bail as they surrendered to the court for bail prayer at noon.
The convicted are Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) executive engineer Mihir Chand Dey, its Former Assistant Engineer Bhabesh Chandra Sarkar, former manager of Cox's Bazar Airport Hasan Zahir, CAAB Superintending Engineer Shahidul Afroz and owner of contractor firm 'Dhaka International Traders' Shahabuddin.
According to the case statement, all the five accused in collusion with each other withdrew Tk 6.0 million as bill without providing any generator to the Cox's Bazar Airport in the 2014-15 fiscal.
Later on January 06, ACC deputy director Muhammad Mahbubul Alam filed the case against six people, including the five, with Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station.
