Covid-19 continues to spread

The spread of Covid-19 continued unabated as the authorities reported 1.319 new cases and a single death from the coronavirus on Thursday.
The figures on Wednesday were 1,135 and one respectively, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data.
However, the Covid-19 test positivity rate rose further to 14.32 per cent on Thursday against the previous day's 13.30 per cent.
With the latest daily counts, the total fatalities from Covid-19 reached 29,134 while the total caseload crossed 1.96 million since the virus was detected in the country in March 2020.
A total of 9,214 samples were tested while 9,218 samples were collected across the country during the last 24 hours.
However, 127 people recovered from the coronavirus disease in the country during the last 24-hour reporting time, the DGDH data revealed.
The rate of recovery from the coronavirus disease was reported at 97.23 per cent on the day.
On the other hand, the rate of fatalities from Covid-19 remained static at 1.49 per cent.
Nearly 14.26 million of samples have been tested so far in the country since March 2020.
