Covid-19 infection rate drops to four-month low

The rate of fresh coronavirus infections in the country dropped to four-month low on Sunday.
In the last 24 hours until 8:00am on the day, the infection rate was 14.02 per cent of total tests, lowest in last 122 days, while the overall detection rate in the country stood at 19.96 per cent.
A total of 1,592 people were found positive for the contagion after testing around 11,354 samples, according to a press release issued by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With deaths of 32 more people, the toll from the virus climbed to 4,479 with the total number of positive cases standing at 325,157.
The overall death rate due to the virus is now 1.38 per cent and the recovery rate has reached 68.05 per cent.
Among the diseased, 25 were males and seven were females. Of them, 17 were from Dhaka division, four each from Chattogram and Khulna, three from Sylhet, two from Rajshahi, and one each from Barishal and Rangpur divisions.
Some 3,423 patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 221,275.
