Cox's Bazar 'gunfight' kills 'drug trader'

COX'S BAZAR, Jan 20 (UNB): A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with the law enforcers in Jaliapara area of Teknaf upazila early Sunday.
The dead is Mostak Ahmed (32), son of Jakir Hossain of the area.
A team of police arrested Mostak on Saturday night. Following his information, police in association with Border Buard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted the drive in the area around 5:00 am to recover arms and drugs, said Lt Col Mohammad Asaduzzaman Chowdhury, commanding officer of BGB-2 battalion.
When the team reached the area, cohorts of Mostak opened fire on the team to snatch him away. In retaliation, the law enforcers to fire back, triggering the gunfight.
