Cox\\\'s Bazar ready to host tourists as season looks good

Saturday, 13 December 2014

Owners of hotels and motels in Cox’s Bazar have expressed the hope that they will do greater business in 2014-2015 seasons (late autumn, winter and spring). The hospitality businesses in the southern most district of the country which has the world’s longest sea beach, have been expecting a good income since the onset of the season last month. Their hopes seemed to be turning into reality in mid-November when a greater number of tourists started to arrive in Cox’s Bazar. Officials and employees of the motels and hotels here said that in the last 1 month, the flow of tourists in Cox’s Bazar from different districts and countries is far bigger than in the corresponding period of last year. They said by the first week of December, Cox’s Bazar town is abuzz with tourists. They attributed the arrival of greater number of visitors in the country’s most popular tourist destination since the onset of the current season to the political stability in the country and an excellent weather condition. Though the volume of arrivals in different motels and hotels everyday has not yet reached the figure which can be called an influx, but the flow is big and sharply increasing day by day, they said. More visitors are expected after the annual examinations at different levels across the country that delayed the guardians’ tour plan, are over, said the owner of a luxurious motel. ‘We are expecting higher volume of individual tourists after Dec 16,’ said an official of a 5-star hotel. According to industry insiders the flow of ‘corporate booking’ is on the rise at the moment. ‘We’re getting a good number of corporate bookings. It’s on the rise,’ said the assistant front office manager of Seagull Hotel, according to a news agency.
