CHITTAGONG, Oct 21: The tourist city of Cox's Bazar with the longest sea beach of the world is still flooded with the tourists. After Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the two biggest religious festivals of the Muslims, members of the Hindu community began celebrations of Durga Puja at Cox's Bazar.
Even at the end of the vacation, almost all the hotels and motels are filled up with the tourists. As soon as a room vacated, it is booked and sometimes at double rate.
Using this phenomenon for their own benefit, from rickshaw pullers to owners of restaurants and hotels, most are charging excess money from customers, sources said.
Tourists and visitors who have started returning from Cox's Bazar next face the hurdle of returning home. Bus tickets are dear and getting them is not an easy task.
There are no rules and regulations governing the matter and the concerned administration is quite mum in this regard. If the situation does not improve soon it will have an adverse effect on tourism at Cox's Bazar.
