Wednesday, 12 March 2014

The government has taken steps to turn Cox’s Bazar Airport into an international one, said Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said on Wednesday. “We’ll hold a meeting with the Chinese government to seek its financial assistance in this regard. Once the airport is made international, the tourism potential of Cox’s Bazar will get a new boost,” he said. The minister was talking to reporters after a meeting with Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Bin Naser Al Busairi at his office. Describing government’s various measures taken to flourish the country’s tourism sector, he said, it is going to announce 2015 as the Tourism Year in a bid to increase the flow of foreign tourists into Bangladesh. Menon also said the government has requested the Saudi government to invest in the country’s tourism sector, according to a news agency.
