Monday, 23 June 2014

British High Commissioner Robert W Gibson Monday opened the new boutique resort Cox’s Bazar Surf Club unveiling a memorial to the 18th century British Diplomat, Captain Hiram Cox, from whom the area gets its name.
It is a boutique resort that will offer members an opportunity to try a range of water sports and activities in modern relaxed facilities, said a British High Commission media release, according to a news agency.
The resort boasts eight premium bedrooms overlooking the Sughanda Beach with a cafe offering a fusion of British and Bangladeshi styles of food.
“The Cox’s Bazar Surf Club is a unique example of private sector cooperation between Bangladeshi investors and British specialists,” said the British High Commissioner.
Gibson highlighted that the UK understood the importance of preserving and celebrating its heritage and how this has become an integral component of destination tourism.
The Cox’s Bazar Surf Club has surf instructors who have been trained by the world famous British Royal National Lifeboat Institute in lifeguarding; also members of the team have been trained along British standards to guide visitors.
