CP mobile court realises Tk 1.9m as penalty in last ten months

CHITTAGONG, Nov 08: As many as 59 organisations were penalised through launching mobile court drives at Chittagong Port (CP) during last 10 months and Tk 1.9 million (19 lakh) was realised as fine from the concerned organisations.
Chittagong Port Magistrate Mohammad Munir Chowdhury conducted regular mobile court drives in the port during the period ranging from January upto October last and took the stated punitive measures under specific ordinance and regulation of the CP, concerned sources said.
The CP mobile court took punitive actions against the concerned organisations on different charges levelled against them, which included illegal possession of port-owned land, environmental pollution of the port channel and damaging its navigational capacity, violation of terms and conditions of lease agreement, creating obstruction to operational activities of the port, violation of discipline in clearing goods, evasion of tax, violation of the terms of dredging, illegal sales of waste fuel procured from the foreign vessels etc.
Of the penalised organisations, Premier Knitting & Tradig, Hazi Monsur Ali & Brothers Ltd, Isaque Bros Ltd, Patenga Real Construction, WMS and KBCCI Ltd, Tarong Traders, Masud Enterprise, Chittagong Marine Enterprise and Hydelburg Cement (Bangladesh) Ltd are the prominent ones, sources added.
