CP mobile court realises Tk 20m

CHITTAGONG, Oct 23: Chittagong Port (CP) mobile court realised taxes and fines of up to Tk 20 million during drives in the past 9 months including outstanding dues on inland vessel movement.
The CP mobile court from January this year detained 55 vessels and fined them for evasion of taxes.
Magistrate Munir Chowdhury conducted the drives along with the security forces and the Marine Department of the CP.
According to the CP sources, a good number of vessels were found to be indifferent regarding regular payment of port dues, river dues, and mooring charges.
