CPA fines 23 vessels

CHITTAGONG, Oct 21: The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) has fined a total of 23 vessels of about Tk 0.30 million on charges of non payment of huge amount of outstanding taxes, according to CPA sources.
Chittagong Port (CP) Magistrate Munir Chowdhury fined the amount during a drive in the port areas Saturday.
The magistrate fined the vessels as the owners of those vessels did not comply with the notices served on them earlier to clear the charges.
Of the penalised vessels, eight are owned by the different fishing companies, 13 are cargo vessels owned by different shipping lines while the rest two are oil tankers.
