CPA fines 5 vessels

At least five lighterage vessels were fined Tk 0.15 million (1.5 lakh) by a magistrate court of the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) in separate drives Sunday, reports BSS.
The legal measures were taken against the vessels on charges of overloading in Chittagong port channel area and violating the CPA act.
Magistrate of CPA Mohammad Munir Chowdhury led the drives in cooperation of the port's security department in the port channel at the estuary of the Karnaphuli river.
Besides, the court also realised Taka 50,000 as fine from a water purifying company for supplying contaminated water.
