CPB, BSD to demonstrate today, Monday

Two left- leaning parties-Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) -- will jointly stage demonstrations in the capital today (Saturday), protesting the government move to raise gas prices from January next, reports UNB.
The CPB and BSD will also stage demonstrations across the country Monday.
BSD general secretary Khaliquzzaman made the announcement after a joint meeting of the two left-leaning parties at CPB central office in the city's Paltan area.
Energy expert Badrul Imam, member secretary of the National Committee to Protect Oil Gas Mineral Resources Power and Ports Prof Anu Muhammad, economist Prof MM Akash, CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim and its leader Ruhin Hossain Prince, among others, addressed the meeting, held with Khaliquzzaman in the chair.
They demanded of the government to shun its move to raise the prices of gas that will come into effect on January 1 next.
