Monday, 12 May 2014

The drives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) against all artificial coverings, including nontransparent and tinted glasses, from car windows are underway across the capital for the second consecutive day on Monday. The Traffic Department of DMP on Sunday fined 973 vehicles for not following the government circular. DMP headquarters also confirmed that 106 vehicles were also towed away by wreckers. The sources added the north division of the DMP Traffic Department fined 424 vehicles where the west division fined 87 vehicles on Sunday. In the wake of growing incidents of abduction across the country, the Home Ministry on April 30 issued a circular banning the use of black/colourful/non-transparent/mercury glasses/windshields in cars and microbuses. The circular also asked for the removal of such glasses by May 10. Police started drive in the capital on Sunday.
