Credit info cells of banks to remain open on Dec 16, 19

All banks and financial institutions will keep their credit information cells open tomorrow (Tuesday), the Victory Day, and on Friday next to send information to the central bank on loan defaulters.
Such information will be required in connection with the scrutiny of nomination papers filed by the Upazila poll candidates between December 17 and December 19 next.
According to sources in Bangladesh Bank, a circular has been sent to all banks and financial institutions in this connection.
It may be mentioned that around 9,976 candidates filed their nomination papers in 481 upazilas throughout the country until Saturday last. Saturday was the last date for submitting nomination papers for the forthcoming local government elections scheduled to be held on January 22 next.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations will end on December 31.
As per Bangladesh Bank instruction, the bank and financial institutions will have to submit their credit information report to the central bank. The central bank will send the information to the Election Commission before the scrutiny of the nominations.
