Cricketer sued allegedly for torturing housemaid

A case was filed against Bangladesh national cricket team player Shahadat Hossain and his wife Nitto Shahadat allegedly for torturing their housemaid on Monday. A resident of Journalists’ Residential Area in Pallabi, reportedly a journalist, filed the case with Mirpur Model Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000, UNB reports quoting Shangkar, sub-inspector of Mirpur Model Police Station, as saying. The report said, locals spotted Mahfuza Akhter Happy, 11, the housemaid of Shahadat’s residence, on a road in the Journalists Residential Area around 9:30pm on Sunday. Being informed, a team of Pallabi Police Station went to the spot and rescued the girl. Multiple injury marks were found in her both eyes, legs and other parts of her body, witnesses said. The girl claimed that Shahdat Hossain and his wife tortured her. Later, the victim was handed over to Mirpur Model Police Station. Sub-inspector Abdus Salam of Mirpur Model Police Station confirmed the incident, saying they sent the injured girl to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment. On Sunday afternoon, Shahadat Hossain filed a general diary (GD) with the police station saying that the girl had gone missing.
