Samiur Rahman, part of Bangladesh's first ODI team, passed away in the city on Tuesday. On the same day, former national left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain died in the evening following his prolonged battle with brain tumour, reports Cricbuzz.
Samiur (69) was diagnosed with brain tumour alongside dementia and was admitted to a city hospital after his condition deteriorated.
In his brief two-match ODI career Samiur couldn't bag a wicket yet he is remembered being an integral part of Bangladesh's first ever ODI team.
Mosharraf (40), who was also battling a brain tumour for more than three years, had earlier been treated in Singapore, India and other countries. He played five ODIs for Bangladesh but was a seasoned campaigner in domestic circuit with 572 wickets to his name.
