Crime situation under control in capital: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Naim Ahmed Wednesday said the law and order situation in the capital remains under control, reports UNB.
"The incidents of crime have declined compared to the past and the law and order situation has been under control," he told reporters at his office.
He said the stealing at the house of Indian Deputy High Commissioner Sarbajit Chakrabarty has been detected.
Organised thieves had stolen valuables from his house in Baridhara on April 29. Later, a case was filed with Gulshan police station.
Taking up the case seriously, he said the police started investigation and the Gulshan police arrested Tulu alias Aiyub Ali, 23, from Khulna on Tuesday and recovered Samsung Mobile set, VCD player and other valuables.
The Commissioner said that police also arrested another suspect Amir Hossain, 22, from Tongi Wednesday. The arrestees reportedly confessed their involvement in the stealing.
