\\\'Criminal\\\' injured in Cox\\\'s Bazar gun battle

An alleged criminal sustained bullet injuries in a ‘gunfight’ between his associates and police in Kalatali beach area of Cox’s Bazar town early Saturday. The injured was identified as Dilu, 27, a ringleader of miscreants’ gang ‘Dilu Bahini’ in in Kalatali. Saiful Islam, sub-inspector of Cox’s Bazar Model Police Station, said acting on secret information, a police team arrested Dilu at Pahartoli area in Cox’s Bazar town around 3.00am. Later police along with Dilu conducted a drive in Kalatoli area to recover firearms around 2.00am. Sensing the presence of police, Dilu’s cohorts opened fire on the law enforcers, prompting them to retaliate with shooting, triggering a gun battle. Dilu was caught in the line of fire and sustained wounds, according to UNB.
