Criteria for MD, CEO appointment tightened

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has tightened eligibility criteria for appointing or re-appointing managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) in banks by fixing minimum age limit of 45 years.
The maximum age for the top executive has been fixed at 65 years with the minimum 20 years of banking experience and two years of experience in the post prior to the position of MD or CEO will be required of becoming the top executive in banks.
Issuing a circular regarding the appointment rules, banking regulation and policy department (BRPD) of the central bank said performance of a bank MD in loan default and recovery will largely be considered before his/her re-appointment.
