Miscreants exploded two crude bombs at the north-east gate of Sonargaon Hotel, where the cricket team members of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan were staying, Wednesday night.
The crude bombs went off inside the entrance gate opposite to Petrobangla Bhaban in the city’s Karwanbazar area around 9:45pm, said intelligence sources. However, no one was injured in the incident, according to a news agency.
On information, police and members of Rapid Action Battalion rushed to the spot.
The four cricket teams are now in Dhaka to take part in the ongoing Asia Cup Cricket.
Meanwhile, media manager of the hotel Salman Kabir denied the crude bomb explosions, saying a wedding party was in progress when some crackers were exploded.
