CAPE TOWN,Dec 5 (AP) : The contractual requirement of South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs to attend an alcohol rehabilitation course is designed to help rather than discipline him, said Proteas team manager Mohammed Moosajee.
Gibbs was dropped from South Africa's squad last month after breaking a team curfew to reportedly go on an extended drinking session ahead of the one-day home series against Bangladesh.
Proteas coach Mickey Arthur described Gibbs' behaviour at the time as "unacceptable in the context of team discipline," and Moosajee confirmed that the player had to undertake a rehabilitation course as part of his Cricket South Africa (CSA) contract.
