CSBIB holds view-exchange meeting

The Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh (CSBIB) arranged a view-exchange meeting on 'Compliance of Shariah in Islamic Banking' at the Board's training institute on Wednesday.
Central Shariah Board's Chairman Prof Dr Mohammad Gias Uddin Talukder presided over the meeting, while Prof Dr Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadwi, a lawmaker from Chittagong-15 (Satkania-Lohagara) and also a member of the parliamentary standing committee on industries ministry, was present as the chief guest, says a statement.
The special guests of the event are Mawlana M Shamaun Ali, vice chairman of the Shariah board; Mawlana Md Mukhlesur Rahman and AQM Safiullah Arif, former secretaries general of the board; and Prof Dr H M Shahidul Islam Barakatee, chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Committee both at Prime Bank Limited and Trust Bank Ltd.
Md Abdullah Sharif, secretary general of the Shariah board, delivered the welcome speech.
The chief guest in his speech expressed satisfaction over the activities of the Shariah board and said the board should not be limited to the sphere of the country; rather, it should work with the international institutions like the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Kuwait Finance House, ISRA etc.
He advised the board to hold at least two international conferences, publish three journals annually and carry out research work.
