CSCEC-SEL joint venture to build Kewatkhali Bridge

A joint venture of Chinese and Bangladeshi firms has been selected to undertake a portion of the Kewatkhali Bridge construction project.
The bridge will be built over the Brahmaputra river in Mymensingh.
China State Construc-tion Engineering Corpo-ration Limited (CSCEC) and Spectra Engineers Limited (SEL) have got the work order under Work Package 1 involving Tk 21.37 billion.
A contract signing ceremony between Roads and Highways Department and the joint venture company was held at the Sarak Bhaban in Dhaka on Monday.
Kewatkhali Bridge Construction Project Director Noor-e-Alam signed the contract with CSCEC and SEL.
As per the contract, the joint venture firm will construct 1.1-kilometre bridge, including 320-metre steel-arch bridge, 670-metre three road overpasses, 240-metre rail overpass and 6.2-km road for slow-moving vehicles along with a four-lane road, toll plaza and tourist spot.
The Tk 32.63 billion project is scheduled to be complete by June 2025.
