CSE MD vows to boost turnover

Managing Director of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) Wali-ul-Maroof Matin has inked a robust marketing plan to attract institutional, local, retail and cross country investors with an aim to boost the turnover value.
Mr. Matin set his working strategy after joining the port city bourse on December 1 last. He earlier also served the CSE as chief executive officer (CEO) between 1999 to 2005.
"We need a strong cooperation with stock brokers, all types of investors and listed companies. To ensure this cooperation, the CSE should also ensure its due service through stock brokers," said Mr. Matin.
He said to ensure brokers' service to investors the system of filing investors' complaints will be conducted on regular basis.
"I personally will visit the brokerage firms housed across the country and write down clients' complaints. And the clients' complaints will be resolved without any delay," said the CSE managing director.  
Mr. Matin said investors of all major cities would come under the coverage of Legal Aid provided by professional lawyers and law pupils.
"The CSE also requires boosting the morale of staffs along with ensuring the logistic supports to ease investors' entry," he said.
He said creative concept development is very essential for further development of the port city bourse.
"Webs, Blogs, Viral Video, Social Networks such as Facebook and LinkedIn, YouTube will play an important role for traditional integrated marketing," CSE managing director Mr. Matin said.
According to Matin, all potential targeted audiences will be served information of the port city bourse within next six months.
He said single equity based market has little scope to minimize risks.
"That's why we will diversify the market by introducing new products. We will work with the premier bourse to form Central Counter Party Risk managing Clearing House along with introducing all asset class derivatives."
The CSE managing director has also acknowledged as the port city bourse is yet to be national hub for securities trading and no foreign trade was executed since 2008 as well.
"The CSE has leadership position in South Asian Federation of Exchanges. So, this position will help the exchange in attracting the cross country investors."
Mr. Matin has proposed the arrangements of corporate governance programmes in collaboration with the World Bank and the securities regulator.
He has also stressed the necessity of visualised concept and feasibility study for CSE Tower.
