CHITTAGONG, Oct 26: The aggrieved leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Chittagong north district unit have rejected its new committee alleging that it is formed according to directive of a godfather of the Hawa Bhaban.
The aggrieved leaders made the allegation at a press conference here today (Tuesday) and threatened to announce a counter committee if it is not dissolved.
The committee was announced Monday where Mohiuddin Khokan and Abu Tayab were named president and general secretary respectively.
Rest of the 101-member committee will be announced later, the central leaders said.
The student leaders alleged that BCL General Secretary Mahfuzul Haider Roton formed the committee as directed by the godfather. But the leaders did not name the stated godfather.
They also branded Mr Roton a corrupt person and demanded his immediate resignation otherwise they warned to 'launch tough programme to oust him' from the BCL.
Newly selected general secretary Abu Tayab was present at the press conference, while former general secretary Manjurul Alam Manju readout the written statement.
