Ctg BGMEA leaders take charge

CHITTAGONG, Mar 21: The newly elected first vice president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters' Association (BGMEA) Nasiruddin Chowdhury and its directors assumed their charges at the Chittagong regional office of the association here Wednesday.
BGMEA arranged a function on the occasion of according reception to the newly elected office bearers and to bid farewell to the outgoing officials.
Advising the newly installed leaders, the immediate past leaders of BGMEA called for confronting the problems of the Readymade Garments (RMG) sector unitedly and begining the work particularly with the issue of revitalising the sick industries of the sector.
They also stressed on the need for taking prompt action on reduction of different charges of banks, resolving power and gas crises as well as customs and port-related problems. Otherwise, it was apprehended that the garment factories would turn into worse than the sick ones.
While delivering address of welcome, outgoing first vice president MA Salam expressed his hope that the newly elected first vice president and the directors would finish the unfinished task of constructing the BGMEA complex and hospital in Chittagong. He gave assurance to extend allout cooperation to the newly elected board of directors.
