Ctg BGMEA, police team up to prevent unpleasant incidents

CHITTAGONG, Sept 27: Leaders of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and local police administration have taken precautionary steps to prevent unpleasant incidents centring round payment of Eid-bonus and full salary of the current month before holy Eid-ul-Fitr at the garments industries based in Chittagong.
Meanwhile, police patrol at 6 garments zone in the city and constant vigilance have been intensified. BGMEA leaders are continuing efforts to make timely payment of Eid bonus and other dues.
BGMEA sources said, leaders of BGMEA Chittagong had been cautiously observing the entire situation and keeping constant contact with the police administration. At the same time they had taken initiatives to make payment of Eid bonus so that the garments workers could celebrate the holy Eid with their dear and near ones in festivities.
According to the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) sources, CMP had undertaken special preparations to control any situation. Police administration held a meeting with the BGMEA leaders a few days back and BGMEA leaders in that meeting had been advised to make payment of all the outstanding salaries to the workers before Eid so that no provocative incident could take place on the plea of any outstanding dues.
