CHITTAGONG, Nov 30: The Ice Breaking Evening for the new management and sub-committee members of Chittagong Boat Club (CBC) was held on Saturday evening on the club premises.
The function kicked off with a meeting held by the new management committee in the mini hall room of the CBC presided over by executive vice president of the club Rear Admiral Akhtar Habib.
Later a colourful cultural soiree was organised on the bank of the Karnaphuli river, where sub-committee members including the management committee members were present with their spouses.
Rear Admiral Habib stressed the need for working together with a view to making this elite club vibrant in the country. He acknowledged the contribution of the then Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Sultan Ahmed who conceived the idea of creating a boat club in Chittagong back in 1986.
He also requested the newly selected sub-committee members to chalk out a clear roadmap in their respective areas so as to hold events on a regular basis.
The spouses should also actively participate in bringing up the club, he said. Suggestions, advice and assistance of all will certainly help the infant CBC to grow into its colourful youth, he said.
