Ctg CNG auto-rickshaw strike enters second day

Wednesday, 29 April 2009

CHITTAGONG, April 28 (Agencies): Hell-bent on pressing home their demands, the CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers continued their strike through the second day Tuesday.
No three-wheelers were to be found on city streets for hire, deepening trouble for commuters short on public transport. But no unpleasant occurrence was reported.
The drivers went on a wildcat strike Monday morning. Their demands include stopping police 'harassment' on them and seizure of their three-wheelers randomly in the name of ongoing drive, implementing the decision taken by the government to give Tk 450 to the auto-rickshaw owner daily, allowing them to park their vehicles at important roads and security of the drivers.
