The Century old Chittagong Court Building has become extremely risky and may lead to a tragic incident at any moment claiming precious human lives and destroying valuable properties. Work of judicial trial is going on under such a constant threat on lives and properties.
Around 5,000 people comprising litigants, judges, lawyers, officials and employees assemble at Chittagong Court Building (CCB) every working of the week. Thousands of litigants are constantly facing the threat to their life as the century old building has become so dilapidated.
A disaster may take place at any moment, concerned quarters apprehend. It may surpass the tragedy which occurred in Chittagong on June 11 last. A proper decision by the government is, therefore, is needed immediately whether judicial and other relevant works would continue in the Chittagong Court Building.
Despite declaring the building extremely risky by the concerned agency of the government, no improvement is yet in sight even on expiry of long two decades. With the passage of time, the possibility of a disaster leading to human tragedy is increasing.
