Ctg Div Commissioner's office holds views exchange meet for polls stakeholders

CHITTAGONG, Dec 21 (BSS): The Divisional Commissioner's office, Chittagong arranged a views exchange meeting today (Sunday) with the candidates of upcoming parliamentary polls, their chief election agents and polling agents.
The meeting was organised to acquaint the stakeholders with the electoral rules and regulations, how to use the newly introduced transparent ballot boxes, and system of counting votes.
The meeting also discussed the importance of maintaining peace and discipline before and during the polls to make it credible.
Candidates of six constituencies - Chittagong-3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 and their polling agents attended the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong Hossain Jamil, who is also the Returning Officer of the constituencies presided over the meeting held at Muslim Institute Hall in the city Sunday morning.
Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Mohammad Maniruzzaman, Police Super Kamrul Ahsan, Deputy Election Commissioner of Chittagong region Izharul Haq and District Election Officer Mohammad Dulal Talukder, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The Divisional Commissioner called upon the candidates and their representatives to play a positive role for the continuation of the current trend of peaceful law and order up to the end of the election.
He said holding a free, fair and acceptable election was not possible only by the government officials without the active support of all stakeholders, particularly the candidates and their agents.
