Ctg hawkers, shoppers open shops

CHITTAGONG, Feb 02: The five-day conflict between the hawkers and shop owners in Reazuddin Bazar and New Market area ended yesterday with both the parties moving back from their protest programmes and resuming their trades following negotiations with Chittagong City Corporation Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury and the police administration.
The feuding parties had meetings with CCC Mayor and CMP Commissioner Moniruzzaman Monday evening. Following the discussions the police administration lifted section 144 from the area at 5.30 pm.
The hawkers started opening their makeshift sheds immediately after lifting of section 144 while the shop owners opened all the 110 retail markets this morning.
