Ctg Int'l IT Fair kicks off

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 17: A three-day Chittagong International IT Fair began at the World Trade Centre (WTC) of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) in the port city on Saturday.
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the fair as the chief guest while CCCI president Omar Hazzaz presided over the inaugural ceremony. President of the Society of Chittagong IT Professional (SICP) Mohammed Abdullah Farid delivered the welcome speech.
Expressing his vision for Chattogram, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, "Chattogram will be transformed into the future Silicon City of the country. To this end, ICT Incubator and Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubation Centre have been set up in Chattogram. Freelancers can earn foreign currency by providing IT services from there."
He said, "If we can provide opportunities to freelancers in Chattogram, they will be able to create employment and also become entrepreneurs. So, we will allot 5,000 square feet of space at Sheikh Kamal ICT Incubation Centre to the CCCI."
Omar Hazzaz said, "We are arranging the 5th Chittagong International IT Fair to enhance connectivity between Chittagong and other parts of the country as well as the world. We hope that this IT Fair will encourage the multinational companies and industries to set up their offices in Chattogram as the IT connectivity will help make their business easier."
The CCCI has arranged the Chittagong International IT Fair for the fifth time in association with Society of Chittagong IT Professionals. There are 60 stalls in the fair. A total of 40 companies are participating in the fair. The fair will remain open from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day.
