Ctg mayor trapped in puddles

CHITTAGONG, May 22: City Mayor M Monjur Alam was trapped in rain water submerged areas for sometime as he went to see the plight of city dwellers at Reazuddin Bazar and Tinpole following heavy showers. The mayor was stuck up at Tinpole as the vehicle carrying him could not proceed ahead in the knee-deep water that submerged the city roads at around 9.30 pm after two hours of rain. Public Relations Officer of the Chittagong City Corporation Saifuddin Chowdhury said the water logging situation in the city was severe and the mayor had attached highest priority to the problem. He said the mayor also visited different low lying areas at Kattali, Agrabad Access Road and Alankar Square in the western part of the city near the coast of the Bay of Bengal where the situation turns worst after heavy showers.
