CHITTAGONG, Apr 6: Two units of Raozan Thermal Power Plant (RTPP) resumed functioning after 11 months of production suspension. This however has not changed much the deplorable power situation in Chittagong due to reduced power supply from the national grid despite enhanced generation. The residents of the city therefore continue to suffer excessive load shedding.
According to the concerned sources, production in Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited (CUFL) was suspended provisionally due to leakage in the ammonia plant. The gas supplied to CUFL, 25 million cubic feet, was then diverted to RTPP.
PDB sources said, with a slight rise in gas supply, 150 megawatt of power was generated in Unit 1 and 100 MW in Unit 2. Moreover, RTPP procured 45 MW and 40 MW of power from Kaptai hydro power centre's Unit 1 and 2 respectively.
