Wednesday, 9 July 2014
Chittagong’s rail communications with the rest of the country have snapped following the derailment of a train in Sitakunda Upazila of the district. An oil-filled wagon jumped the tracks at Fouzdarhat in the Upazila around 6:30am on Wednesday, Chittagong Railway Station manager Md Abul Kalam Azad said. Dhaka-bound two inter-city trains ‘Suborno Express’ and ‘Sagarika Express’ did not start from Chittagong because of the accident, he said. On the other hand, ‘Chattagram Mail’, ‘Udayan’ and ‘Godhuli’, heading for Chittagong, were stuck at Fouzdarhat. Salvage operations are on, station manager Azad said, but gave no indication of when services would resume in the important route, according to bdnews24.com.
