Ctg Varsity School & College beat Bandarban Don Bosco 3-0

CHITTAGONG, Feb 10 (UNB): Chittagong University School & College notched a facile 3-0 win over Bandarban Don Bosco High School in the Chittagong zone opener of the First Security Islami Bank National School Hockey Tournament at the MA Aziz Stadium here Monday.
Chairman of National School Hockey Tournament Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, also the chairman of ATN Bangla and ATN News, inaugurated the nine-team zonal meet at a 30-minute opening ceremony in the afternoon.
Deputy Managing Director of the tournament's sponsor First Security Islami Bank Syed Habib Hasnat, Managing Director of Prime Distribution Limited Rashedul Alam and General Secretary of Chittagong Jilla Krira Sangstha (CJKS) AZM Nasiruddin and President of Chittagong Press Club Ali Abbas were also present at the inaugural function, chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong M Abdul Mannan.
Nine teams, split into three groups, are taking part in the zonal matches.
Nine participating school teams: Chittagong University School & College; TTC Rangamati; Don Bosco High School Bandarban; Chittagong Municipal High School; Shah Multilateral High School Rangamati; Bandarban Govt High School; BAF Shahin School & College Chittagong; Border Guard Public School, Cox's Bazar; and Khagrachhari Adarsha High School.
Later, three group champions will qualify for the next round to be held in Dhaka.
In all, 102 school teams from 64 districts, will compete in the countrywide national school hockey meet in 10 zonal venues -- Madaripur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Barisal, Sylhet, Jessore, Comilla and Dinajpur.
Later, top 28 teams will play in the next round of the meet in Dhaka.
