CU expels eight over attack on journalists

CHITTAGONG, Feb 26: The authorities have expelled four students of Chittagong University for two years for their alleged involvement in an attack on the journalists on duty on the campus.
Four other students of the university have also been expelled for two years allegedly for abducting a student of the university in another incident.
Proctor of the university Professor Ali Asgar Chowdhury said four students were expelled for attack on the journalists and vandalising the administrative office on February 20 during a sit-in programme.
They are Saiful Islam Sayeed of the Public Administration Department, Lokman Hossain of the Economics Department, Pranab Saha Joy of the Modern Language Institute and Mazharul Huda Lotus of the Dramatics Department.
And those expelled for abducting CU student Sajid Khan from the campus on February 22 are Shafiqul Islam and Iftekhar Reaz of the Modern Language Institute, Yasin Arafat of the Botany Department and Sabbir Hossain of the Management Department.
