CU reopens on August 19

VC, pro-VC quit

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 12: Chittagong University (CU) will reopen on August 19 after being closed for more than a month.
Meanwhile, administrative operations resumed with the seat allotment process for residential halls on August 10. However, the dormitories will open on August 18, a day before the reopening of the university.
Meanwhile, the CU authorities also proposed financial aid for those killed and injured during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement. Condolences were offered for two CU students who lost their lives during the protests.
CU has remained closed sine die since July 17, following student protests against discrimination.
In another development, vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Abu Taher tendered his resignation letter to the CU registrar yesterday (Monday).
He also sent a letter to the President with a plea to clear him of the charge.
Pro-VC (academic) Prof Benu Kumar Dey also quit from the post the same day.
