CHITTAGONG, Sept 12: Teachers of Chittagong University (CU) have asked the police administration and other authorities concerned to arrest the Islami Chhatra Shibir attackers and ban Shibir activities within seven days.
They will observe a one-hour work abstention from 13th to 16th September demanding punishment to the culprits involved in the attack on the varsity teachers. The work abstention will be observed from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. On the 17th September they will hold a rally of the CU teachers.
Islami Chhatra Shibir activists of the CU under the banner of general students called students' strike from September 1 demanding allotment of seats at Shahjalal, Shah Amanat and Suhrawardy halls.
Decision of the CU teachers was taken at a protest meeting of teachers chaired by President of the Chittagong University Teachers' Association (CUTA) Prof Benu Kumar Dey Thursday in front of the CU Administrative Building, a statement said.
The CU authority has also formed a three-member probe committee with Dr Khan Tauhid Osman, students' consultant, as convener to investigate the attack on the teachers' buses.
