CHITTAGONG, June 17: About 73 teachers of Chittagong University (CU) who went abroad for higher studies and did not come back, are reported to have drawn a big amount of about Tk 30 million excess money.
In response to the notice served by the CU authority, only a few teachers refunded the money while the rest have not yet turned up to refund the excess money drawn by them.
According to CU sources, university authorities sent notices to the teachers, staying in the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom reminding them to refund the excess amount of money received by them.
The teachers went abroad on lien for higher studies, but have not returned home. In black and white, they work at CU while practically, they are working abroad and instead of taking any class at CU, those teachers have enjoyed all the financial facilities including pay and allowances. In this way, CU authority had to spend a huge amount of money.
