CUET closed indefinitely

Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has been closed for an indefinite period following a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). The university authorities took the decision at a meeting chaired by the Vice Chancellor on Tuesday morning, CUET's public relations officer Fazlur Rahman said. The two factions of student wing of the ruling Awami League clashed on Monday night, leaving one injured. Male students were asked to vacate dormitories by 12 midday on Tuesday while female students were directed to leave hall by 5pm, the official said. However, post-graduate classes and examinations will continue, he said. Raujan police OC Pradip Kumar Das said he learnt that the clash took place over announcement of a new BCL committee in the university unit. Police were deployed on the campus, he said, according to bdnews24.com.
