Cultivation of Boro under AWD emphasised

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Dec 4 (BSS): Speakers at a training programme on Wednesday emphasized the need for cultivation of Boro paddy under Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) method which can save 30 to 35 percent irrigation water.
Chapainawabganj district office of Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) arranged the day long training for local farmers at the Seeds Processing Centre of BMDA here.
Deputy Manager (Agriculture) of BMDA ATM Rafiqul Islam, executive engineer Md. Akbar Ali, assistant engineer Atiqur Rahman and agriculture extension officer SM Aminuzzaman addressed farmers at the training seasons as resource persons. They asked the farmers to get optimum result in producing Boro paddy under the AWD method.
A total of 50 farmers took part in the training. After training seasons, 50 AWD pipes were distributed among the trainees for using during the coming Boro season.
